Avis and BD go visit Tress and Villeneuve. In exchange for retrieving a stone from the pond at the end of the well, Villeneuve offered to copy parts of her book that mentions House Nocturnus.

The team reconvence at Adric's and organizes a political debate. While the candidates are bickering, BD and Avis are offered a choice by Jon Hawkins that would help ensure the elections goes a certain way.
