[21:15]: We have set out to find the missing children. Opal has taken the vanguard, Kniiv and Julian as our main body, myself as the rear guard. Opal's spirit echoes a fierce lion; I have high hopes for our mission.

[23:02]: Opal has been doing her upmost to attract attention. Yelling and dim finger lights have yet to procure signs of the children. Truly unfortunate. Our march continues. 

[23:16]: It occurs to me that bringing a brighter light source may have been wise. Searching for small beings is difficult in the dark. I hear movement in the tall grass, but no replies to Opal's call.

[23:18]: Our party has been surrounded. A fight! Such luck! What shall my lessons be today?

[?]: Absolute defeat. I have dubbed the devilish ambushers "shin snappers" for their size and toothiness. My uppercuts were ineffective against the small creatures, this time. Looking back, a roll and cut would have increased the effectiveness. Opal and Kniiv fell to them immediately; Julian, a large sparky tentacle and I only held out long enough to bring one creature down. By sheer luck the children were nearby and pulled us into a shelter upon our defeat. I will praise them for their bravery on our return to the city. Julian however, has been seized by the snappers. We will depart shortly on a second rescue mission. I will not lose to them a second time.

[?]: Opal has informed us that the shelter the children brought us to belongs to "giant wasps". I will remember that for later.

[01:15]: We found the nest quickly and I took decisive action against our opponents. Kniiv seemed alarmed by my immediate action, probably because of my cleverness in striking first. I fell the first snapper by rushing in and delivering a precision axe kick to the back of the head. Upon defeating the first opponent, I turned to face the next with low jabs, avoiding the sharp teeth and claws. Kniiv caught up quickly to join the fight and together we drove the remaining 2 to their demise. I will make sure to bring back a few cuts for tomorrows menu; it will surely be a big seller.

[01:21]: We will now head back to the children to escort them back to the city.

Lessons:

• Do not travel at night without a proper guide.
• Knee and leg strikes are more effective when fighting opponents shorter than the hip.
• There are clear advantages to ambushing opponents.
