Opener:
Rowan the painter hangs out with Ellywick in her gardens, painting. They meet this way once a week or so, in secret.
Rowan is distracted and uninspired, and tells Ellywick that he is betrothed, and has to marry someone he does not know, as part of his duty as the son of an admiral. Ellywick is surprised and saddened by this news, but opts to make a white flower bloom in the garden, for luck and inspiration. Rowan is inspired by the flower, and paints the leaves surrounding it, with white space where the flower itself is.
Main Event:
The party are the centipede tunnels, surrounded by giant centipedes; everyone except Sun jumps in to engage. Ruckus is knocked out and paralyzed by the centipedes, and the rest of the party wipes out the remaining bugs.
Grey collects up some centipede venom for his collection of curiosities, and Sun hops down to join him, swallowing the copper nail in the process.
As they are waiting for Ruckus' paralysis to wear off, a disembodied hand crawls its way out of one of the centipede corpses, and tries to communicate with the party. Willingly says "CATCH THAT" but it doesn't seem inclined to flee. (Could the cargo be a giant box of animate hands?)
When Ruckus revives, the party follows the insistent pointing of the hand to find the vehicle wrecked, in a collection of bones and cart wreckage. The cart was obviously very fancy and expensive, but is now basically smashed. In the cart, they find a very large jar with, sealed, with a man inside. He is conscious, and does not seem concerned. He is not able to hear the people outside.
The hand leads Grey to rummage through the debris, where they find a headless body, missing a foot and a hand. The body climbs out of the piles of stuff, and the hand attaches to it. The man in the jar appears to recognize the body.
Ruckus notices the ground rumble, and a giant burrowing serpent emerges in the tunnel. THEY FIGHT. Ruckus goes down again, and the party defeats the serpent. Grey heals Ruckus with an artificer spell, revealing to anyone that knows well enough that he definitely has free will.
They hear shouting from inside the serpent's body. Ellywick opts to climb into the serpent's mouth to try and retrieve the source of the sound; she finds the head of headless body. Ruckus and Grey haul her out of the serpent with a rope. The head reattaches and introduces himself as Melvin, the servant of Godfrey, (the man in the jar) from the Demon Kingdom. They were carrying the savoury cargo, in a case which is now empty.
The party follows a trail of delicious slime from the case to find a brown cube of goo schlorping its way to freedom. Melvin says it is a Bouillon Cube; a delicious subtype of gelatinous cube. Sun ingests as much of the slime as they can manage. They get the cube back in the case, and start moving the parts of the wagon back to the exit of the tunnels, where Grey is slowly repairing it.
