During a particularly snowy winter, both Olive and Gene were trapped in Malkara, unable to ply their trade on the road. They both boarded a ship to Isard in hopes of better weather and better business.

The ship was battered for days by an unnaturally strong blizard. When the weather calmed, they found that they had been transported to a frozen ocean in another plane.
